6 effortless ways to repurpose content on social nedia

Repurposing content is the best thing that’s happened to social media since avocado toast!

How to repurpose content on social media

And here’s why:

First of all, you save time. Coming up with content ideas can be mind-boggling and I’m pretty sure everyone has had the agonizing experience of staring at a blank page (or Instagram caption) not knowing where to begin. If you already wrote it/designed it, why not reuse it?

Secondly, repurposing gives your content a second chance. If you feel a post you’ve worked hard on hasn’t performed as expected, maybe it was not its fault after all. Maybe you just posted at the wrong time (hello, low summer engagement!) or on the wrong platform. Give it another shot!

One more thing: content that performed really well will probably perform well again! You might be thinking people will be annoyed if you post the same thing over and over, but worry not: not all your followers have seen it the first time and not all of them will see the second time! Similarly, people who follow you on a platform might not be following you on another.

How to Repurpose Content on Social Media

  1. Turn Instagram carousels into pins. Resize from 4:5 to a 9:16 ratio and use the Pinterest app on your phone to upload a new pin. If uploading from your desktop, you could use Canva to turn the carousel into a slideshow video before posting (Pinterest only allows single file Idea pins to be uploaded via browser).

  2. Resize Instagram grid posts into pins. This one is probably even easier - just change the ratio from 4:5 to 2:3, paste the caption in the description and add a SEO-friendly title.

  3. Turn a Pinterest infographic into an Instagram carousel post. Pinterest is famous for its love of infographics, but the same doesn’t translate to Instagram. Instead, break up the text from your pin into a few different slides and you’ve got yourself a brand new carousel.

  4. Upload Reels to Tiktok and vice versa. You might need to change up the music and hashtags before posting, and make sure there are no visible app watermark, as neither platform loves advertising its competition.

  5. Upload Reels/TikToks to Pinterest. Pinterest is getting more and more into videos and it would be a shame to waste this opportunity. Just note that trending sounds from Instagram and TikTok are likely not trending on Pinterest, so it doesn’t make as much sense to use those videos as they are.

  6. Use a caption that generated many comments on a different Instagram post. If it works, why mess with it? You can do the same with an image/graphic that did well, and either switch up the caption or use the exact same one in a pinch.
